List of High Tea Buffets and Traditional English Tea

UPDATE 3 Oct 2009: There is an expanded and updated list here.
http://www.camemberu.com/2009/10/singapore-high-tea-buffet-list-updated.html

There are very few updated buffet lists that focus on high teas. So I thought I'd create one. There are two types - the ever popular buffet and the more elegant traditional English tea - think scones and open-faced sandwiches often served on three-tier silver stands (fixed portions).

I have pulled together information by calling direct and off websites. The list is by no means exhaustive. If there is a place you think I should include, feel free to email or leave a comment (ideally with the full details!). I will share this list in selected forums but this post on the blog will be the centrally updated version.

Dec is a tricky month for compiling information as festive pricing comes into play for many establishments. To be really safe, please call the restaurant to confirm pricing, timing and reservations (very essential for festive periods as many places are fully booked). Prices are also subject to change in the new year - some places hinted at an increase (but can't divulge details).

  3. Thanks, everyone!

Ladyironchef: just dogged phone calls and online trawling. :) And one discovery leads to another.

Actually I'm not even a high tea person but I thought there was a missing gap here in buffet lists. Now that I have some info, I might just go for high tea someday myself! Haven't gone in ages!

  4. Thanks for your very informative post on high teas! Found your website by chance and am now an avid reader of your blog.

Something to share. Went for high tea with 2 girlfrens at Conrad's Lobby Lounge yesterday and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Stanchart cardholders currently enjoy 1 free tea set (choice of western or asian) for every 2 sets purchased. This is a pretty good deal as each set comes with a 4 tiered tray of goodies, scrumptous scones and freshly baked souffles coupled with refillable pots of coffee or tea. The ambience is plush yet cosy with live piano music tinkling in the background and attentive staff. Normal price of each set is about 22+++ but is set to increase slightly next year.

Wishing u a speedy recovery and happy new year!

high tea is not buffet style?

  6. The Ritz-Carlton has two types of high tea, buffet on weekends, three-tier set on weekdays. I listed them separately. Do a CTRL-F and type "Ritz" and you'll find the details.

  7. which one is the best place to have high tea?

  8. It really depends on what you like, Danielle. International or English style tea? And your budget, any occasion (birthday or casual outing with friends) involved, or other preferences (wanting the widest variety? highest quality but smaller spread?)

Personally I've only tried two. Shangri-La Rose Veranda is a nice, quiet luxurious treat. The Sheraton Towers is not too bad either, but has a much smaller spread (and price tag). You can see photos in the posts.

  12. Hi There..

Been following your blog and would like to comment that yesterday we went to the Raffles Hotel for afternoon tea and it was mediocre, at best. Below par service for an establishment of that level, not to mention very so so selection of scones, finger sandwiches. Strawberry tart was alright. Passable selection of "international" foods such as hak gao.

Save your money and go elsewhere. We're still looking for the ideal place for afternoon tea.

thanks for your list. Please do update if you find something interesting..
