Da Pai Dang at The Central

Tender Braised Beef Noodles, originally uploaded by Camemberu.

If you've ever wandered the basement of The Central (at Eu Tong Seng Street above Clarke Quay MRT station), you may have encountered this corner outlet called Da Pai Dang offering Chinese-style street food. Most of the staff seem to be from Mainland China.

I took a gamble on their tender beef noodles (S$5.50). Fairly generous serving of fatty braised beef. But the noodles smelt so strongly of ammonia, like hair-dye chemicals, it was inedible. It was also too soggy.

I don't think I'll be back to try the rest.

  4. i wonder what sort of taste have you got or have u at all?!
it certainly isn't fair to give such comments - yes, there could be places whose food is not wonderful to one's palete!
but surely it isn't not that bad as u had written?!

my husband and my whole family had been to DA PAI DANG few times now...n each trip, we were not disappointed by their food!!
one of our friend had even had their cny reunion dinner held there and they were pleased with the food too!

anyhow...thanks for the great food served and may ur biz continues to grow...

  5. I'm glad you like the place, Serene. Not many of us can say the same. But let me quote Coco Lee - "If you have a different opinion, that's your choice. But don't bash me for it."

I am only recording my honest experience of the place. Pros and cons - nice beef but noodles fail.
