The S$45 Weekend Brunch at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport
It's not a wide spread, admittedly, but it has the basics that most people look for. You'll get your chilled seafood on ice (freshly shucked oysters, Boston lobster claws, New Zealand coastal mussels and Chilean scallops on the half-shell). The carvery and steak section is probably a highlight. Smoked salmon is at the salad section.
The Asian section gives you Cantonese roasts, chicken rice, deep-fried ngoh hiang and some Indian selections. Ooh, and papadums.
Executive sous-chef Alvin Leong has also created dishes like Savoury Cheese Crepe with "Peking Duck" and Seafood Baked Cheesy Rice, Paella-style. I feel these looked good and had potential, but seem to be just shy of a culinary wow.
The dim sum is better than at most buffets, but there's only two kinds. The popiah is actually quite tasty, if you don't mind that the skin is a bit thick. The laksa we all liked, and my clever friend TheHungryCow upgraded his with some lobsters from the chilled seafood section.
Other things I liked: mini macaron shells (green, pink and brown), and the lemongrass jelly with DIY condiments and an ice shaver. Create your own dessert. There's also Haagen-Dazs ice cream (four flavours) for you to play with.
The desserts don't stop there. There are cakes and brownies, and mini shooters.
The Changi location might deter some, but I've always liked going to the airport, so it was actually a plus for me.
