Super Lunch Sunday Buffet at PARKROYAL on Pickering

Lime Restaurant at PARKROYAL on Pickering is beautiful with high ceilings and glass panels letting in all that therapeutic natural sunlight. Seats and furnishings are comfy, and service is always with an easy smile. I always feel very good coming here.

During our weekend staycation (link to staycation blog post) at PARKROYAL on Pickering, a PARKROYAL Collection hotel, we tried their Super Lunch Sunday. It starts at 12:30pm, allowing you to sleep in as long as you like on Sunday. And it lasts four luxurious hours, allowing you to catching up with friends and spending quality time with family over a good variety of nibbles.

I want to start by highlighting the best thing here - the grilled prawns and salmon from the chargrill section. It's so beautifully plated with micro-herbs and flowers. And then you bite into those juicy prawns that have been so well-marinated. You know already you need seconds!

Untitled
They plate it differently each time. But so pretty still. Love the salmon roe too.

Untitled
Yes, the grill section also features sausages, vegetables and corn. Yums!

The live stations include a Seafood, Sushi and Sashimi Showcase.

Lobster Eggs Benedict featuring a 65°C Sous-Vide Egg

Untitled
Foie Gras done two ways: flambé-ed with rhubarb relish; foie gras torchon with berry compote, toasted brioche and truffle powder.

Untitled
A massive Leg of Lamb at the Grand Carvery, next to the Roasted Wagyu Topside and Salmon Wellington.

Over at the hot mains, we have a variety of European-style meat and vegetables dishes. The beef cheeks look so good.

The Asian mains are just next door. The satay is probably the best thing at the Indian and Malay Food Corner.

What you must not miss is Lime’s signature Nonya Laksa Station, or "Luxsa" as they call it because it has a chunk of lobster in the rich savoury broth.

Untitled
The Salads station features both Western and Asian/Thai salads. There's even hummus and moutabal (roasted eggplant dip)!

Untitled
The live pasta station surprised me with how good it was. This is a special sauce they created themselves. I forgot the name, but I'd eat this again.

Untitled
Pizzas here are not too shabby with a crispy thin crust.

Untitled
I like the DIY Kueh Pie Tee at the Peranakan section.

Untitled
The selection of cheeses, antipasti and charcuterie is rather limited but enough for a taste.

Untitled
The Fresh Healthy Juices station at the far end also serves some smoothies in small glasses (these get taken really quickly).

Keep a lookout for the Sangria trolley making its round around 1pm. The buffet includes non-alcoholic beverages but those who prefer something stronger can choose to top up an additional S$68++ to indulge in unlimited servings of house pour wines and beers. If you feel like champagne, Piper-Heidsieck is available at a special promotional price of S$88++ per bottle.

Untitled
Executive Chef Deepak and his team continues to refresh the buffet repertoire until 4:30pm, so you will have ample time to recover from your food coma for a few rounds of dessert.

Untitled
Take your pick form desserts from around the world, including Belgian Chocolate Marquise, Strawberry Flavoured Swiss Chocolate Fondue, Vanilla Crème Brûlée, exotic Nonya Kueh, Bubur Cha Cha, Red Velvet Nitrogen Ice Cream and Signature Crêpe with Durian, Pandan and Gula Melaka.

You can watch the nitrogen ice cream being made on the spot.

Untitled
We really liked the ice cream here. It was creamy and dense without being too sweet.

Untitled
The bread and butter pudding was a little on the overly sweet side though.
