Giveaway: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Re-Opens at Marine Cove

Marine Cove is back after four long years. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) was one of its original tenants, if you remember. They have re-opened as well, bigger and better than ever with over 4,500 square feet of cafe and dining space. This makes it the largest CBTL outlet, and also the most family friendly one with pram parking, a kid's play area and kids' menu exclusive to this branch.

Come to the grand opening on Saturday, 2 July 2016, and get free drinks (coffee, ice blended and other select drinks) from 2-9pm.  Yes, they thoughtfully extended the promo hours to 9pm to accommodate Muslims breaking the Ramadan fast. They are also giving away 1,500 CBTL re-useable cups.

The outlet boasts a lovely sea view (great for sunrises, I'm sure) and the wide canopy helps shield against the sun.

Here's one exclusive feature you won't find at other CBTL outlets - a frozen yoghurt stand offering flavours like coffee and matcha along with various toppings (fruit, crunch, sauce items). A box helps little kids get a better look at what to choose.

Also unique to the Marine Cove outlet is a private party room, with a touch of Venice Beach retro juxtaposed against local nostalgic accents (love the concrete ventilation blocks). You can rent the room for up to 30 pax with a minimum spending of S$300 on weekdays or S$400 on weekends for the first two hours. Subsequent hours are S$100 and S$150 respectively.

The kids play area can entertain up to 10 toddlers aged 5 and below. I am sure parents and families will welcome the respite no matter how brief!

Foodwise, the menu has a few more items (salads, wraps, sandwiches, mains) than the normal CBTL cafe, but is not as extensive as the CBTL Beanstro concepts.

Yes, you'll get your Eggs Benedict (S$13) here, along with a very decadent looking Salmon Bagel (S$12.50). Waffles, pancakes, omelettes and full breakfast platters are also part of the All-Day Breakfast sets served with Today's Brew - coffee, tea or iced tea, with free refills til 11am.

The mains include various pastas and classic western favourites like Fish & Chips, Beef Burgers and Chicken Cutlets.

The Prawn Aglio Olio Spaghetti (S$13.50) is the one I liked best. Mainly because it's got a nice spicy kick. My kids loved this.

They also have some gorgeous salads, which is not surprising considering the chef is from P.S. Cafe (oh yes, the fries are not too bad here; they just don't have the truffle version). This Garden Salad (a steal at S$9!) has fresh mesclun, cherry tomatoes, red onions, cucumber, dried cranberry, asparagus, corn and fresh strawberries drizzled with a passion tea infused vinaigrette. It's almost a fruit salad.

This outlet also has a kids' menu not available at other branches. It's the usual kiddy favourites - Mac N Cheese (S$5.50), Chicken Fingers (S$6.50), Spaghetti Meat Ball (S$6.50) and Ham & Cheese Bunwich (S$6) and Nuggets (S$5.50).

I say let your kids train their spice tolerance on the spicy Aglio Olio. Yes, I know I'm evil but your kids will thank you later in life for being able to enjoy spicy foods!

There's plenty of al fresco seating. Passage ways are wide and spacious (you know you need a wide berth for the skaters and scooter-riders!) .

The Marine Cove outlet is open 24 hours on Fridays, Saturdays and eve of public holidays.

We have been waiting so long for this little enclave at East Coast Park to revamp itself, and I have to say I'm really happy with what Marine Cove has become, especially with huge new playground facing the eateries.
