Jet Li, My Hero!

My childhood hero Jet Li 李连杰 has become a global warrior for humanity. He is now a full-time relief worker. Yes, many celebrities do charity work, mostly in between albums or films. But Jet Li has completely walked off the job and immersed himself in philanthropy.

He set up the "One Foundation", which has become so successful that Harvard is studying how it got so big in just a year. I think he's hit the nail on the head. A charity that's totally accountable - you can see where every cent goes. Other charities might do well to take a leaf from it too.

I LOVE this article from Time Magazine

Times UK also wrote about their efforts for the Szechuan earthquake. http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/fashion/article5274774.ece

I'm glad he's found his passion and his calling. The world needs more love!

  1. I really enjoyed reading all these articles that you put a link to.

There was the one about Down's Syndrome in Britain and now this.

I've always favoured Jet Li over the others and this latest stance (pu intended) from his really had me interested even further.

The last few lines from that article had me tickled and at the same time, very much touched.

  2. Yay, thank you very much, CT! :) Man does not live by bread alone, so sometimes I add in a few non-food related posts. But only those I really like. Glad you enjoy them too!

  3. Yea, your blog is always full of surprises, be it your lovely photos of the eateries u have been to, some touching entries about caring for the people around you and of course, your home-cooked dishes...

Christmas is coming and to read heartwarming entries is such a pleasant treat... Ultimately, it is all about receiving and giving and it's nice to know that helpful ppl still exist in this world despite being in a fast pace society.

  4. Thanks, Fen! That's absolutely true - Christmas is all about giving and receiving! The beauty is that the giver often receives more than what is given! Jet Li here has found his passion and true meaning in life.
